Get Ready for Global Ethics Day with Carnegie Council!
On October 18, Carnegie Council will celebrate the 10th annual Global Ethics Day. The keynote event will be a panel discussion, “Unlocking Cooperation” at 12:00pm ET, led by Carnegie Council President Joel Rosenthal. Registration is open now for this free-to-attend virtual event, which will examine the psychology of cooperation and its potential to address global-scale challenges.
In the run-up to Global Ethics Day, Carnegie Council will also be hosting a virtual panel on September 28 at 11:30am ET titled “Making Global Ethics More Global.” Scholars from the Global South and North will come together to discuss the barriers to knowledge production in the academic world and how to bring new voices into the classroom, library, and bookstore. What does a more diverse and inclusive approach to knowledge production look like?
In addition to attending the above events, individuals and organizations from around the world are encouraged to plan their own Global Ethics Day activations. For guidance and tools on how to participate, please visit the Global Ethics Day 2023 site to access key messages, download this year's social media toolkit, and explore other resources.
Remember to share your activations online using #GlobalEthicsDay. Participants are also encouraged to share their Global Ethics Day plans with Carnegie Council via an online contact form for a chance to be featured on the Council’s social media platforms and Global Ethics Day materials.
How to Be an Ethical Individual in an Interconnected World
Michael Schur, creator of the hit TV show The Good Place, joined Carnegie Council President Joel Rosenthal to discuss how each of us can apply ethics to improve our daily lives.
In 2021, Carnegie Council hosted a panel featuring activists fighting on the frontlines to uphold and strengthen democracy. Speakers from Hong Kong, Belarus, Burma, and Venezuela discussed what individuals can do to support democracy.
